Truthful and Accurate Opinions About Joe Paul

Barry Davis recently wrote a letter to the local paper saying he was unhappy with Joe Paul’s service on his condo board.  I am a member of that same community and want to set the record straight.

First of all, Mr. Davis failed to identify himself as treasurer of Joe’s opponent’s campaign, a position in which he was recently fined for a campaign rule violation.  Davis also failed to mention that he hasn’t served on our condo board for many years, ever since the board demanded his resignation.

As far as Joe Paul’s performance, after Hurricane Sandy destroyed our docks and boat slips, it was Joe (our Dock Master and Board Secretary) who had the enormous task of negotiating with insurance companies and contractors to quickly and safely rebuild our docks and slips. He did this with cost in mind and boating season fast approaching. He got our docks fixed quicker than our incumbent mayor got Bond’s Dock fixed!

Mr. Davis, our constitution provides us freedom of speech.  But we have a responsibility to be truthful and accurate when expressing our opinions.  Your letter was irresponsible and inaccurate.

I have seen firsthand the hard work Joe does and his commitment to his community.  I hope you will join me in voting for Joe Paul in the Democratic primary on Tuesday, September 10.
