Terry Masters: My Second Campaign Promise

During my campaign, I promise to keep to issues that affect the middle class and to stand up for the people in Stratford.

Democrat Terry Masters is running for the 120th District seat currently held by .

My second campaign promise: I am going to talk about some real issues here.

I have been an activist all of my life. My grandmother Rose left czarist Russia around 100 years ago and her stories inspired me. Her family had a choice: remain living in squalor with harsh governmental oppression likely leading to death or come to a strange, new country and try for a better life.

It wasn't easy, but coming to the United States was the right thing to do. Her experiences taught me to have the courage to fight for change instead of simply accepting things the way they are.

Standing up for what's right is what my kind of activist does.

I have marched with hospital workers, fighting for a decent wage and reasonable benefits denied them by administrators with bloated salaries.

I have protested at GE, which somehow owed no taxes after a year in which they reported over $5 billion in US profits.

I have marched to Stratford Town Hall to protest the and refusing to release previously bonded money to repair the "White House."

These are just a few of the many causes I have taken up over the years. It's likely at some point I have stood up for you or something you believe in already.  And I'm certainly ready to be there for you in Hartford.

I believe that building a strong community benefits everyone.

I don't like it when influential people, whether they be the government or the wealthy elite, ignore those less powerful than they are. If there is not justice for all, there is no justice. Those fortunate few have access to the legislature's ears anytime they want. But the rest of us, we the people, don't get heard. Send me to Hartford and you will have a voice. We're in this together.

A second promise, but the same conclusion: I have your back.
