Who are the Stratford Lifelong Learners?

Do you like to learn? If you are looking for programs to expand your mind- come to Stratford Lifelong Learners program. Free and open to adults of all ages.

Created in 2007, the Stratford Lifelong Learners (SLL) is a joint initiative of the Stratford Library and Stratford Senior Services.  The group was formed in response to needs expressed by both library patrons and senior center users for a type of program series that would appeal to older adults in general.  SLL looks to engage individuals age 55+ who are looking for stimulating programs and opportunities to give back to the community.  This group is coordinated by volunteer community members plus Lauren Donovan, Outreach Program Coordinator at the Senior Center and Katie Courcey, Head of Adult Services at Stratford Library.

SLL encourages interested older adults to play an active part in planning and participating in the programs.  Program topics and potential speakers are chosen by the members.  The group looks for local people to share their expertise and knowledge on a variety of topics.  SLL always welcomes new volunteers and all programs are open to anyone interested, regardless of age. The programs are held on a rotating basis between the Stratford Library and the Baldwin Senior Center.

This year, Stratford Lifelong Learners received a grant from the Connecticut State Library and the Institute of Museum and Library Services to expand programming for older adults.
