Stratford Lifelong Learners Set Schedule

The Stratford Lifelong Learners, a joint initiative of the Stratford Library and Stratford Senior Services, continue their series of special programs through June 2014.  
The Lifelong Learners is a group of community individuals age 50+ who meet for interesting opportunities and stimulating events and present a series of programs on a variety of topics throughout the year.  Events alternate between the Stratford Library (2203 Main Street) and Raymond E. Baldwin Center (1000 West Broad Street) in Stratford.  The current schedule includes:

Tuesday, March 18, 2014  1pm  Baldwin Center:
Share Your Story
– Memoir Writing Aubrey Moncrieffe, Assistant Professor of Developmental English at Housatonic Community College, will talk about what you need to know to write your own memoir.

Tuesday, April 22, 2014  1pm  Baldwin Center
Don’t Know Much about Stratford History? - Carol Lovell from the Stratford Historical Society will share facts from Stratford’s interesting past.

Saturday, May 3, 2014  1pm  Stratford Library:
American Impressionism with ArtscapadesLearn how this movement arrived in America including the influence of art dealers, the education of American artists in Europe and the formation of art colonies like the one in Cos Cob, Connecticut.

Tuesday, May 20, 2014  1pm  Baldwin Center:
Opera for Beginners - Alan Mann, Artistic Director from Opera Theatre of Connecticut, will discuss “La Boehme”, which is widely considered the best first opera to see.  

Tuesday, June 17, 2014  1pm  Stratford Library: 
My Life in Music with “Dr Joe”  - “Dr.  Joe” Utterback, Director of Music at the First Congregational Church, will perform classics from the Great American Songbook as well as his original compositions.
