The Stratford Library, SquareWrights and the Square One Theatre Company will present “Fall Quickies in the Stacks”, an afternoon of five original short plays on Saturday, October 26 at 2 pm.  The readings, which are free and open to the public, are a bi-annual event held at the library, 2203 Main Street in Stratford.  It is free and open to the public.

“Fall Quickies” features the following plays by Stratford playwrights: “Don’t Confuse Me with the Facts” by Orna Rawls, “Night Plane to Quito” by Steven Otfinoski, “The Legend of Brick Randall” by Tom Rushen and “Tumbling” by Mark Lambeck. It also features “Thanks a Lot” by Kate Gill of Guilford.  Directors for this festival include Marlana Rugg and Richard Mancini of Stratford, Robert Watts of Milford, Toby Armour of East Haven, and Rachel Babcock of Branford.  The festival of short plays features works inspired by the word “fall” and covers such topics as the fall of a political leader, a boxer who won’t take a fall, citizens grappling with how to vote in a fall election, a jogger who tumbles into a pothole and a futuristic look at a fall holiday.

Since its inception in 2004, the Stratford-based SquareWrights Playwright Group has had more than 75 productions and staged readings including short-play festivals, the 24-hour Fast Forward Theatre Festival, fundraisers for Tsunami and Katrina victims, and the Stratford Summer Arts Festival on the grounds of the Shakespeare Theatre.
