Summer Reading at the Library -- Why Should Kids Have all the Fun?

Registration for Adult Summer Reading Kicks Off on June 23rd

Summer essentials include  sunblock, mosquito repellent, and naturally, a good book or two to read by the pool or curled up in your air-conditioned living room. Whether you like to read one special book and make it last all summer, or whether you always have a stack of books on your bedside table, we welcome you to participate in our fourth annual adult Summer Reading Program.

This can be the summer when you read exactly what you want to read, when you want to read it. We'll help you find the perfect book, ebook or audiobook for you.

There are no meetings to attend, no required booklists to follow.  Throughout the summer participants are simply asked to fill out reading slips and share the titles of whatever books – fiction or non-fiction - they are currently reading.  Readers will then be eligible for prize drawings after the program concludes on Saturday, August 4.

Beginning Saturday, June 23 from 10 am to noon, area adults can stop by the Library Lovell Room for a drop-in registration event.  Participants can learn about the Library’s Playaway audiobooks, talk with a librarian about ebook readers, help a librarian pin summer reads on Pinterest and chat with “Book Club Doctors” Kathy Faggella and Roberta Shea for advice regarding book clubs.  Complimentary giveaways at the event will be provided by Sikorsky Credit Union and Milford Bank.  Light refreshments will also be served.

Those unable to attend the June 23 festivities are welcome to register for Summer Reading any time between June 23 and August 4 by visiting the Stratford Library’s Adult Reference Desk.
