"Places of Rest," a photography and poetry program by Shelton artist John Ulatowski, will be held at the on Monday, June 18 at 7 p.m.
The artist's brilliant color photography accompanied by his original poetry will be presented in the library’s Lovell Room. The program is free and open to the public.
John Ulatowski has been taking photos and exhibiting his work for many years. He has published six books of photographic images and is currently working on a book of children stories, a third book on images of Orange, Connecticut and a DVD of "Places of Rest."
The artist received his Bachelor degree in English from Sacred Heart University and has published newsletter articles as well as working with authors on material research. He has exhibited at several libraries throughout Connecticut.
The photo-poem show -- photographs with complementary poems -- is a narrated slide presentation of photos accompanied by the reading of selected poems by Square One Theatre Company actors Danielle Sultini and Davina Porter.
Ulatowski explains, "The work offers the listener a sense of assurance and peace, and also harmony in the universal themes of the poems with photos that we all share together."
