Girl Scouts Visit Stratford Library
Stratford Academy's Third Grade Brownie Troop make the library a more colorful place
As part of the international centennial celebration of Girl Scouting, many Girl Scout troops plan to volunteer 100 hours in 2012, one hour for each year of Girl Scouting. Third Grade Brownie Troop #37233 from Stratford Academy recently visited the for a volunteer service project.
During their visit, the girls learned about the Stratford Library and created artwork that would remain on display in the library for other children to enjoy. The children's Brownie leader, local art teacher Sally Head, chose 'Chicka Chicka Boom Boom' by Bill Martin for their art project because it is beloved by many children and because of its unique collage art.
The girls drew whimsical alphabet letters and placed them around the bendy coconut tree, the classic emblem of this well-known children's book.
