The Stratford Library: A Place to Plug In

Stratford Library was a busy place in the days following Hurricane Sandy's landfall.

Hundreds of "powerless" folks found a haven at the Stratford Library last week.

With power out in half of Stratford's homes, residents & local businesses used the library to access the Internet, check their email and get questions answered.

Power strips were set around the building for phone charging and folding tables were placed throughout the agency for people who brought their own laptops.

Librarians helped field questions on where to find shelter and showers, access transportation and how to get in touch with FEMA.

People were able to catch up with neighbors and find out how things around town were shaping up.

Stratford Library Director Barbara Blosveren noted, "We are happy to be the hub of the Stratford community and provide service for those in need after this devastating event."
