Fashion designer Wallace Sloves to show original artwork at Art and Wine Appreciation show on July 19th.

"Art and Wine Appreciation" series continues

The Winemakers' Boutique of Stratford continues its "Art and Wine Appreciation" series with fashion design icon Wallace Sloves on Friday, July 19th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Winemakers' Boutique, 2505 Main Street, Stratford.

An established designer of bridal and formalwear for more than 60 years, Sloves turned his creative passion to oil painting and watercolors, featuring landscapes and outdoor scenes inspired by his travels. 

Sloves has exhibited in regional juried exhibitions, including Old Lyme, SCAN (Society of Creative Artists of Newtown) and The Oxford Cultural Arts Society where he was awarded “Best In Show” for his oil painting “Morning Waves.”  Sloves studied under Alex Domonokos and Federico de la Vegas.

Sloves is a professor of fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York and was a partner in Charles Contreri and Wallace Sloves Fashions Inc., which specialized in custom bridal and formalwear for retail clients such as Bergdorf Goodman, SAKS Fifth Avenue, and Kleinfelds.

The Winemakers’ Boutique will pair Sloves art with tastings of red and white wines crafted in the shop. Selections will include a new Cabernet Franc icewine that patrons can bottle for themselves. Hors d’oeuvres will also be served.
