Councilwoman Philips Endorses Joe Paul for Mayor

As Election Day rapidly approaches, the voters of Stratford face the important task of choosing our mayor for the next four years.  We are fortunate to have an excellent choice in Joe Paul.

Joe is a man of character and poise, a true leader. He is genuine, down to earth, and decisive.  His 35 plus years of experience as a senior vice-president with a large bank have left him comfortable bringing people together, listening to their ideas and making decisions.  He is an independent thinker who will listen to you before coming to a conclusion.

Joe's poise under pressure during these hectic closing days of the campaign is impressive.  I've never seen him get rattled or overwhelmed and his poise has a calming effect on those around him.  He has reacted evenly to the unfounded personal attacks that opponents have thrown his way, never getting bogged down in the mud.  Instead he purposefully moves forward.

Joe Paul will bring that same attitude to Town Hall.  He will be an open, visible, honest and accessible mayor, accountable to the people of Stratford.  Furthermore, he is committed to attend public forums, and I know Joe’s administration will respond quickly and directly to the public as he does now.

Joe’s campaign is truly diverse with Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and every background – in fact there are no labels, only respect.  Civility will be matched with accomplishment as he will work equally with the Town Council, and together we will find the means to give the Shakespeare Theatre and tourism a legitimate chance. I believe Joe has the vision and discipline to make our town’s taxes and growth competitive with our neighboring towns. I would like to see Stratford ranked in the top 10 of the Connecticut Magazine’s Best Places to Live for our category.  I eagerly look forward to working with Mayor Joe Paul.
