They advance to play Weston on Saturday.

Update 8 a.m. Wednesday

The Stratford Little League 9U All-Star team beat Easton 9-6 Tuesday night and will play Weston on Saturday at 5 p.m.

--

On Saturday, June 23, at Beardsley Field in Monroe, Conn., the Stratford Little League 9U All-Star team began what hopes to be a long run in their annual 9U Tournament.

It began with a bang as the Stratford squad defeated Seymour's 9U team 10-9 in a THRILLING 6-inning victory.

TJ Muratori pitched 4 superb innings and Thomas Blaine closed out the win with 2 nearly flawless innings of "ice in the veins" tossing. Every Stratford batter who came to the plate did so without fear and it showed in the concentrated team effort to produce enough runs for a victory.

Please come support our amazing 9 (and under…Danny Lombard JUST turned 8) year olds in their quest for another puzzle piece in Stratford Little League's history. BTW, this was the first SLL 9U team to ever win a game in this tournament we were told afterwards.

But enough about the past…today Stratford faces another challenge in the Easton, Conn. 9U All Stars, who won the entire tournament last year. The teams square off at Beardsley Field #1, 70 Cross Hill Road, Monroe, at 6 p.m.

Our wonderful ball players are living the dream…day by day…and would never trade tomorrow for today.

Coaches: Ryan Burlone, Bob Fraedrich, Loren Verkovod, Rich Wegrzyn

Players: Danny Lombard, Jayden Wegrzyn, Thomas Blaine, Tyler Phommachawh, Diego Jasso, Timothy Fraedrich, Luke Zezima, TJ Muratori, Ryan Burlone, Dylan Vancho, Andy Verkovod
