After four seasons, Stratford High School football coach John Svatik is heading out.

The move caps the end of a season that saw the Stratford Red Devils go 10-31 in his tenure and 3-8 in 2013, including a 12-10 Thanksgiving loss to Bunnell.

Svatik told the Connecticut Post he was leaving to pursue other opportunities.

"Any time you consider leaving a program where you spend a lot of time and energy and you have wonderful kids, they're always tough decisions," he told the Post. "It's never an easy decision."

Svatik came to Stratford after a career as a college coach, holding positions at Sacred Heart University, Wesleyan, Central Connecticut State University and others.

Svatik did not specify where he plans to coach next.

FYI-The score was 10-12. It was a great game to watch. I am a Straford High football mom and I want to wish Coach Svatik all the best in his future endeavors!

Thanks for the catch. I think that was a typo on the writer's behalf.
