Stratford Schools Open Monday

Public schools open tomorrow as the latest figures from UI show 5 percent of Stratford without power.

Though 5 percent of Stratford remains without power, the town is sticking with its plan to open public schools tomorrow after closing them for the entirety of last week.

"Schools all have power and will open as scheduled tomorrow," Marc Dillon, chief of staff for Mayor John A Harkins, wrote in an email to Stratford Patch.

As of 6:50 p.m. Sunday, exactly 5 percent of the town was without power, or 1,149 United Illuminating customers.

Speaking at the Lordship sea wall last week, Harkins said the decision to close schools for the rest of the week was made due to a lack of power at some school facilities.
