'Slight Gas Leak' Prompts Evacuation at Wooster

Students were back in class in less than an hour.

An aroma in the kitchen at Wooster Middle School led to the discovery of a "slight gas leak," which prompted the school to evacuate its students about 10 a.m. Friday, says the superintendent.

Superintendent Janet Robinson said the gas company came to inspect the problem and took care of it in about 30 minutes.

Students were back in class before 11 a.m., she said. No one complained of any symptoms related to the "very small" leak, Robinson said.

Police and fire officials also were called to the middle school.

So if you were wondering what this message was about on the Stratford Board of Education's website, "Wooster Middle School was evacuated earlier, but have been cleared by the police and fire department to re-enter the building," there's your answer.
