Suspicious activity outside of Second Hill Lane Elementary led the principal of the school to order a lockdown Friday morning, a resident who called the school tells Patch.

"The school told us there was activity outside of the school, so as a precaution, the principal ordered a lockdown until police gave the OK," said the resident.

"Situation at Second Hill Lane has been cleared by the police for classes to resume as normal," reads a message on the Stratford Board of Education's website.

An officer at the Stratford Police Department said officers are on their way back to headquarters. "I don't know exactly what happened ... but it wasn't a drill."
