Diabetes Fair at the Library

The Stratford Library hosts Stratford and Bunnell High School's H.O.S.A. (Health Occupations Students of America) Chapter for a Juvenile Diabetes Education Fair.

H.O.S.A. members, guided by Stratford and Bunnell High School advisors Minna Kaufman, R.N., Mimi Bake and Melissa Signorr, will assist Joan Benz, Outreach Center and Funda M. Gulmen, N.D., M.S. Naturopathic Physician, as they educate and inform families about diabetes.

Topics include diet, nutrition, exercise and comparing various foods.  Delanie Burgess, H.O.S.A. volunteer and a diabetic, will also discuss her personal experiences as a teen living with the disease.  Stratford Library Teen Services Librarian Diane Stackpole, assisted by Alessandra Legaspi, Stratford High School H.O.S.A. Secretary, will host a Library Corner with selected readings on diabetes for children, teens and adults.  Materials will be available for check-out after the program.
