And the Options Are? Many School Parents and Others Have Fingers Crossed

WEEKEND ASSIGNMENT: No one in Stratford wants to see any neighborhood school closed, yet that may happen in time for next Fall when one, maybe two elementary schools could be closed and some school districts adjusted.

Your Stratford Patch "Weekend Assignment" is to review the attached consultant's reports outlining the factors that town officials are considering for their momentous recommendation expected to be announced next week.

Already, the blue ribbon Stratford Long Range Facilities Committee made up of top Board of Education, town and other officials made a recommendation on Jan. 31 to consolidate all sixth grades from the elementary schools to Flood and Wooster schools, and Stratford Academy. This reconfigeration would make all elementary schools K-5.

The committee met again this past Monday, Feb. 7, at Stratford High School and heard options for relocating Honeyspot House students, part of the Stratford Academy's expanded campus, to other schools as well as review relative options to close one or more elementary schools, identified as Franklin, Chapel, Wilcoxson and Lordship schools.
