Vote for your go-to place in the poll; it may be crowned a Readers' Choice later this summer.

If it's near and dear to your heart, Patch wants to know -- tell us about the area's best pet groomer.

Vote for your favorite place in the poll below. It may beat out the competition to become the number one Readers' Choice.

Voting begins July 23 and runs through Aug. 17.

Dear Tricia, We welcome dogs with all types of special needs, including aggressive, fearful dogs. Most of the time, we are able to complete the groom because we are so patient & gentle. But if your dog is biting the scissors, we can't risk injuring your dog. Safety is more important. Normally, we ask for at least 3 hrs for the grooming. For an aggressive dog, we try to allow extra time for the dog to become more relaxed. You are complaining of a 2 hr wait, yet also stating that we "gave up" too early. Rushing is the worst way to approach grooming a fearful or aggressive dog. Also, it is never a good idea to stay so close (in the parking lot) while your dog is being groomed. They know you are there, and it makes it much harder for the dog to relax. Dogs sometimes react differently to different people, so it is often helpful for more than one groomer to help out. One groomer could be petting and comforting your dog, while the other attempts to saftely groom your dog...your dog was by no means "passed around to different strangers". We worked as a team to try to accomodate your special situation. We are sorry to hear that your were unhappy, but I can assure you that we did whatever was in the best interest of your dog. We are a bit taken aback, that after trying to accomodate your special needs, you have written a negative review, rather than appreciating our efforts. Please let us know how we could have better handled this situation. Thanks, Murphy's Paw

murphy"s paw. We have 2 German Shepard's, one who doesn't get along with strange dogs and the other who weighs over 100 pounds and has bad legs. They have always been excellent with both dogs and we have been going there for over 4 years.
