State Sens. Kevin Kelly (R-Stratford) and John McKinney (R-Fairfield) co-host an informational forum on the state budget Thursday, March 14, at Wooster Middle School in Stratford

State Sen. Kevin Kelly, who represents Stratford in the 21st Senatorial District, will join Senate Minority Leader John McKinney of Fairfield as host of an informational forum on the governor's proposed state budget Thursday, March 14, at Wooster Middle School in Stratford.

The event is open to the public and will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. It will be held in the school's auditorium.

The stop in Stratford is one of many on McKinney's statewide budget tour. The so-called "Fiscal Responsibility Tour" began in Enfield on Monday and will stop in six towns after Stratford.

"Two years ago, when Governor Malloy was proud of his budget he went on a statewide tour to promote his vision of 'shared sacrifice.' That vision never materialized," McKinney said.

"Instead, government spending increased, promised savings from state employee unions were never achieved, and hardworking taxpayers were disproportionately burdened with the largest tax hike in our state’s history."

McKinney said now "it is more important than ever for the legislature and the governor to hear from the people of Connecticut."
