Stratford Democrats to Pick Their Candidate for Mayor Wednesday

It's between Beth Daponte and Joe Paul. Meeting starts at 7 p.m.

The Stratford Democratic Town Committee meets Wednesday night at the Baldwin Center to endorse its candidate for this fall’s mayoral election.

The committee, which consists of about 90 members, must decide between Beth Daponte and Joe Paul.

The candidate to receive the majority of the votes gets the nomination, according to Democratic Registrar of Voters Rick Marcone.

Marcone says only 25 members are needed for a quorum, but he’s expecting a larger crowd. The endorsed candidate faces Republican incumbent Mayor John A. Harkins.
