Shays Makes Middle Finger Remark About McMahon

Chris Murphy's campaign is spinning a gaffe from Susan Bysiewicz's camp into a call for donations. The incorrect ad, which was based on the record of former New York congressman Scott Murphy and not the Connecticut congressman, is apparently still running.

"They refuse to take it off the air. Outrageous, right?," wrote campaign manager Kenny Curran in an email to supporters. "Given our opponent's unfortunate refusal to take her ad off the air, we need to increase our televison [sic] buys this week."

On the Republican side the Senate race, Chris Shays told the New Haven Register editorial board that he would not support Linda McMahon if she wins the primary. If there was any doubt of his true feelings, he sharply criticized her campaign, which refuses to meet with newspaper editorial boards.

"You have a candidate who is basically giving the finger to all the editorial boards," Shays told the New Haven Register.

3rd District

Wayne Winsley (R) continues campaigning throughout the Third District. On Monday, he posted, "Today I will be criss-crossing the 3rd district, meeting voters and getting the word out," on Facebook.
