said in his concession speech Tuesday that he did not raise enough money but nevertheless enjoyed the campaign and would support fellow Republican Linda McMahon.
At his Stratford campaign headquarters, the William Samuel Johnson House at 2103 Main St., he said his and McMahon's beliefs are "not far apart."
Asked if he would recant contrary statements he made earlier in his campaign, he said, "I do not withdraw any comment that I made."
"I did not respect how she conducted the race but her position and my positions are not far apart. She won. I lost. This is her race and she'll have my vote," Shays said of McMahon.
