Meet Stratford's New CAO Stephen Nocera

Stratford's new chief administrative officer (CAO) is Stephen Nocera, a 28-year-old Marist grad who before coming to Stratford worked as a mayoral aide in Torrington, Conn.

The 28-year-old Marist grad said he was sought out by Mayor John A. Harkins' staff for the position of chief administrative officer (CAO) after

Nocera began his tenure as the new CAO on Monday, Nov. 14.

"I developed a love for community service in high school," Nocera said at last night's Town Council meeting. "Government plays a role and I like to be a part of that."

Nocera has spent the last six years working in Torrington as a mayoral aide. He lives in Simsbury.

"I'm learning a little bit every day," said Nocera. "I'm most excited about the challenges that will arise."

The Simsbury resident said one of those challenges will be finding new hires and getting them quickly acclimated to the needs of Stratford. For example, the position of town planner is now vacant since , Nocera said.

"Stephen is a hard worker with a proven track record of accomplishments in Torrington," Mayor Harkins said in a statement. "His six years of experience with municipal budgets and operations will serve the Town of Stratford well."
