McMahon and Murphy Sweep Stratford

According to local results, it's onward to the Senate race for the two party-endorsed candidates.

Stratford voters have picked and to face off in the November election when the two could possibly vie for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by , a former Democrat-turned-Independent who is retiring.

Whether or not the two will actually contend in November depends on the statewide results, which according to The Associated Press are reflective of local results. Patch will update readers soon as the official results are available.

In the meantime, here's how the votes were broken down in Stratford, according to the office of the registrar.

Linda McMahon received 1,156 votes; Chris Shays, 408. With 5,826 registered Republicans in Stratford, that's a voter turnout of 26.8 percent.

Chris Murphy received 895 votes; Susan Bysiewicz, 557. With 9,849 registered Democrats in Stratford, that's a voter turnout of 14.7 percent.
