Fundraiser Held for 6th District Incumbent Dave Fuller

Supporters of Stratford native and 6th District Councilman Dave Fuller held a fundraiser yesterday at Vazzy's.

More than 25 supporters of Stratford native and 6th District Councilman Dave Fuller came together at Vazzy’s of Stratford Wednesday night in a fundraiser for his re-election bid for Town Council.

"If I am fortunate enough to get another term, I will work to fix infrastructure and public safety," Fuller said.

Fuller said key issues in town are affordable education, open and transparent government, economic development and municipal efficiency.

He is proud of what he considers his two biggest achievements while serving on the Council: not voting for tax increases and supporting asbestos abatement in Wooster Middle School.

He also endorsed the unanimously approved proposal for a full interchange at exit 33 on I-95.

Fuller started his political career during his college years spent out of state. He worked on many national campaigns, which included the presidential bids of former Connecticut Democratic senators Christopher Dodd and Joe Lieberman. When he came back to Stratford he became active in local politics.

Fuller finds that the most rewarding part of being a Councilman is the chance to have a dialogue with constituents and voters.

Fuller said it's important to be open to new ideas and hear what other sides have to say.

"Both parties have to talk to each other," he said.

"Dave is one of the hardest working Council members," said Democratic Town Committee Chairman Rick Marcone. "[He] has a very bright political mind, and has a very good understanding of the issues that affect all of us here in Stratford."

"Democrats consider him a very strong ticket to address the problems that face the town of Stratford," Marcone added.

Fuller’s re-election manager and treasurer Amanda Soderberg said the turnout was more than she expected.

There was a $25 collection at the door. People who couldn’t come sent in donations.
