Woman Loses Control of SUV in Dunkin' Donuts Drive-Thru

Police said the woman may have had a seizure, causing the car to accelerate unexpectedly.

A woman lost control of her SUV in the drive-thru of the on Barnum Avenue Cutoff, accelerating her car over a curb and into a small tree.

Police said the middle-aged woman and two children in car seats in the second row of the car were not injured in the accident, which happened at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The car's sudden acceleration may have been caused by a seizure, according to Lt. Melissa Niemiec.

As EMS and fire personnel checked on the two children, the woman could be heard shrieking in the back of an ambulance a few feet away from the site of the crash.

Bystanders said they heard employees scream when the accident happened.

"She's lucky she wasn't out there on the street," an eyewitness said.
