With Back-Up Trucks Down, Fire Union Calls for Action

Stratford Fire Department Local 998 says it's "imperative" that the town purchase a new truck.

The Stratford Fire Department is once again using a Milford engine as a front line apparatus due to another mechanical breakdown of one of its 14-year-old engines, according to a post on the fire union's Facebook page.

"It is imperative that the Town purchases a new apparatus to stop this from continuing to happen," the posts says. It went up at 12:19 p.m. on Friday.

The Facebook update led the Connecticut Post to publish an article on the situation. In that article, fire union President Bill Hansen was quoted as saying, "It is frustrating, because we're trying to provide a service to the town and this hampers our ability to provide that service adequately."
