Thieves stole about two feet of copper piping from Jansko Athletic Fields at Clover Field on Monday afternoon, according to a report on Doingitlocal.com.
The price of copper has created , area police departments told Patch last November.
Stratford police Capt. John Popik said the thieves' favorite targets are houses that are vacant because of foreclosures, but some are bold enough to climb on the roofs of commercial buildings and pry copper parts out of air conditioners.
"They're causing thousands of dollars to the house," he said.
