An 18-year-old former student at Cooperative Education Services in Trumbull allegedly threatened to return to the school and start shooting.
James Patrick Ryan, of South Avenue, Stratford, is charged with second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of the peace.
"At 10:03 a.m., Officers were dispatched to Cooperative Educational Services located at 25 Oakview Drive, Trumbull. According to staff members, a student at the school was being told he could no longer return there. The student's mother arrived to take him home and as he was leaving, he made a threat to return to the school in a manner similar to the tragedy in Newtown, on Dec. 14, 2012," said Trumbull Deputy Police Chief Michael Harry.
"Officers were immediately assigned to the school's two locations and detectives immediately prepared a search warrant for both the suspect and any weapons. The warrant was served in Stratford with the assistance of Stratford Police and was accomplished without incident," he said.
Ryan was held in lieu of $25,000 bond for an appearance Jan. 28 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
