Police: Three Men To Be Charged for New Canaan Home Invasions

The home invasions allegedly occurred in August 2011 and August 2012.

Charges are expected to be filed against three New York men for their alleged roles in two home invasions which occurred in New Canaan in August 2011 and August 2012, New Canaan Police announced Monday. The home invasions marked the first reported cases of their kind in New Canaan in more than 20 years.

"This is huge," Sgt. Carol Ogrinc said Monday.

Charges are still pending for Paul DiBiase, 57, of Poughquag, N.Y., Daniel DiBiase, 55, also of Poughquag and Jason Foskey, 34, of Stormville, N.Y. The men were arrested in Harrison, N.Y.

"The arrests were made as a result of an intensive and lengthy investigation by a task force comprised of numerous local and state law enforcement agencies as well as the FBI and highlights the effectiveness of information sharing and cooperation between the various law enforcement entities," Lt. Vincent DeMaio announced in a press release. "The trio is suspected of committing numerous crimes throughout the tri-state area over an extended period of time."

In August 2011, a 60-year-old woman who lives on Lambert Road told police two men entered her home while she slept alone. The men then tied the woman up and made off with $40,000 worth of items from her house. There were no signs of forced entry during that invasion, and the alarm system was not activated.

In August 2012, a 52-year-old man was tied up in his Ponus Ridge Road home after at least two husky men entered his residence through an unlocked door. Someone else was home at that time, but the men who invaded the home did not notice that person, who subsequently called police. The men made off with $14,000 worth of items during that invasion.

The investigation into the suspects' criminal activities is ongoing, according to the release. The three men remain in custody in Westchester County.

I'm happy no one was hurt and they found the guys that did this. The victims had to be so scared. I feel bad for them. I'm glad no one was killed

As efficient as NCPD is, they can't be everywhere. Nothing highlights this and the need to be vigilant and armed more than a home invasion. Thankfully, the criminals did not decide to eliminate witnesses.

too bad these three didn't meet Messrs. Smith and Wesson during their escapades.
