Stratford Woman Charged with Shoplifting $924 in Groceries

Arrest information is supplied by the Fairfield Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

A Stratford woman was charged over the weekend with fifth-degree larceny after she allegedly exited a Fairfield grocery store without paying for $924 worth of items, police said.

Dana Openshaw, 41, of Ketchum Road in Stratford, reportedly removed items from shelves throughout on Villa Avenue and then left the store without paying, according to the report. Stop & Shop employees confronted her in the parking lot and brought her back inside the store.

Openshaw was reportedly in the bathroom when police arrived and claimed she was pregnant and didn't feel well. Police said Openshaw also claimed she did not realize she hadn't paid for the groceries.
