Stratford's North End Gets EMS Treatment

During daytime workweek hours, a Stratford Emergency Medical Services ambulance will be set up at the Oronoque Fire House instead of five miles south at fire headquarters.

Stratford Emergency Medical Services started stationing an ambulance at the Oronoque Fire House last week in an effort to cut down on response time to the North End, according to the Connecticut Post.

Stratford EMS Director Philip Onofrio told the Post that a high percentage of daytime emergency calls come from the North End, and with headquarters about five miles south of the Oronoque Fire House, downtown traffic and congestion often extends response time.

Onofrio said the new setup up is a trial and is not in effect on weekends or weeknights, but could expand if proven effective, the article reported.
