Stratford Police Remind Motorists: 'Click It or Ticket'

The 2013 Click It or Ticket enforcement mobilization runs from Nov. 26 through Dec. 1.

This is a press release.

As the busy Holiday season kicks off and Stratford motorists take to the roads, it is important that everyone buckles up every time they go out, both day and night – no excuses.

While belt use nationwide hit a record high of 86 percent in 2012, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there are still thousands of vehicle drivers and passengers who are not buckling up – and the result can be tragic.

NHTSA statistics show that in 2011, 21,253 passenger vehicle occupants were killed in motor vehicle crashes and 52 percent were not wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

In the interest of public safety and as a partner in this year’s Click It or Ticket mobilization, the Stratford Police Department is increasing enforcement efforts to save more lives on our roadways.

Motorists are urged to fasten their seat belts, day and night, for each and every trip; and encourage your loved ones to always buckle up too … you could save them the cost of a ticket, and even their life. Click It or Ticket.
