Stratford Police Dog Sniffs Out Marijuana
The following arrest information was supplied by the Stratford Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
A police dog assisted in the arrest of a suspect on drug charges on Aug. 8 during a motor vehicle stop on Cutspring Road.
Stratford police reports said an officer observed a vehicle with one license plate missing traveling on Cutspring Road. The officer pulled the vehicle over at the corner of Chapel Street and learned that the car was unregistered.
A K-9 team responded and the police dog reportedly sniffed out a coffee can containing two cellophane packages filled with small amounts of marijuana, approximately two grams in total.

The operator of the car, Alfred Austin, 30, of 150 Jackson Ave., Bridgeport, was charged with possession of less than a half ounce of marijuana, no front plate, operating with a suspended license, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and no insurance.
He was released on a promise to appear for a court appearance on Aug. 23.
