Stratford Police Charge Teens for Stealing Phone Case

The following arrest information was supplied by the Stratford Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Stratford police charged two 18 year olds with larceny for allegedly trying to steal a phone case from the Walmart on Barnum Avenue Cut-Off on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Stratford police responded to a shoplifting call at the big box at 10:11 p.m. Saturday, a police report said.

Upon arrival, a loss prevention officer, who had the suspects in custody,  reportedly stated that he saw one of the defendants select a phone case and place it in his pocket while the other acted as a lookout, the report said.


Gustavo Alvarez, 18, of Trumbull, and Jessica Flores, 18, of 70 Avo St., Stratford, were apprehended after exiting the store, police said.

The report said the total amount of item(s) taken was $19.88.

Alvarez and Flores were charged with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny and released on a written promise to appear for a court date of Nov. 10.
