Stratford Police enforcement actions from Feb. 15 to Feb. 18.

On Feb. 15, Officer Rosenbaum observed a vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign on Suth Avenue and Adams Street. After being stopped, the operator, Douglas Fast, 46, of Everett Street was found to have a suspended license. He was charged with failure to stop for a posted stop sign and operating without a license and was released on a promise to appear in court on March 1. 

On Feb. 15, Officer Policano was on patrol on Boston Avenue when he observed a vehicle with no front plate. The operator, Xavier Aponte, 25, of Bridgeport, could not provide a valid registration but did have an insurance card. He was charged with operating without a plate, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and operating while under suspension. He was released on a promise to appear in court on March 1. 

On Feb. 15, Officer Creature observed a car parked at Jalapeno’s bar on Success Avenue with a registration reported from a stolen car in Bridgeport. When the vehicle exited the establishment, Officer Creature attempted to pull it over. However, in an attempt to flee, police said, the operator attempted to pull around a vehicle that was already stopped by police on a separate traffic violation. The operator narrowly missed the second vehicle, but was blocked in. Officer Santos, who was on the scene for the other traffic enforcement case then stepped in front of the vehicle was almost struck, police said. The operator was told to turn the vehicle off but did not comply. The operator, Miguel Cruz, 21, of Bridgeport was removed from the vehicle, searched and handcuffed. The vehicle was towed. Cruz was unable to show any ID to police and was charged with larceny, theft of a plate, misuse of a plate, unregistered motor vehicle, no insurance, no license and no front plate. Bond was set at $5,000 and court on March 3.

On Feb. 16, Officer Policano was on patrol on Barnum Terrace when he observed a vehicle with a cracked windshield. As the vehicle turned west on Barnum Avenue, Officer Policano identified the operator as Matthew Carr, 21, of Barnum Terrace who was wanted for violation of probation in Bridgeport. He was given a written warning for the windshield and emissions violations and held in $25,000 bond on the probation violation charge. 

On Feb. 17, Officer Burroughs was on patrol on Honeyspot Road he pulled over a vehicle with no front plate. The driver, Phillip Lalor, 22, of Bridgeport, was charged with failure to display a front plate, operating with a suspended license and failure to carry a license. Bond was set at $1,000.

On Feb. 18, Officer Policano was on Bruce Street near Stratford Avenue when he attempted to stop a vehicle for not having a front plate. The vehicle did not yield the the emergency lights and turned onto Stratford Avenue when he stopped in a parking space. The driver, Maurice Early, 45, of Pleasantview Avenue was charged with no front plate, misuse of registration, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, no insurance and was released on a promise to appear in court on March 1.
