Enforcement actions taken by local police from April 29 - 30.

On April 29, police stopped a vehicle on Canaan Road after a check of the registration showed the marker plate belonged on another vehicle. The operator, Shavonne Andino, 28, of Ansonia did not have a valid driver’s license nor insurance. She was charged with operating an unregistered vehicle, misuse of plates, no insurance, operating with a suspended license and failure to notify the motor vehicle department of an address change. She was released on a promise to appear in court on May 10. 

Early April 30 at a DUI checkpoint, police stopped a vehicle driven by Kesha Arguelles, 30, of Bridgeport due to a missing front headlamp. The driver had a valide license but was unable to produce proof of insurance. She was charged with no insurance and no front headlight and released on a promise to appear in court on May 10.

On April 30, police stopped a Honda Civic on Stratford Avenue for having a loud muffler. A check of the vehicle’s marker plate showed it belonged on another vehicle. The operator, Hector Aquino, 31, of Bridgeport could not produce any paperwork for the vehicle. When police advised him that his car would be towed, Aquino started getting loud and confrontational. His girlfriend in the car told him to calm down and he was brought to headquarters and charged with misuse of a marker plate, unregistered motor vehicle, no insurance, failure to carry a license, failure to return plates and unusual noise. Bond was $450 and court is pending.

On April 30, police in the area of Stratford Avenue and Beardsley Avenue stopped a vehicle with an expired registration. The operator, Laura Molina, 41, of Cutspring Road, had no valid paperwork for the vehicle. When police advised her that her registration and insurance had expired, she replied, “I have to reregister my car?” She stated she did not know that. The car was towed and Molina was charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle, no insurance, failure to notify the motor vehicles department of an address change and was released on a promise to appear in court on May 17.

On April 30, police were in the area of Barnum Avenue and Main Street when a check of a vehicle showed an expired registration. The operator, Aldo Gallucci, 49, of Cutspring Road did not have any registration paperwork for the vehicle and his address had changed without notifying authorities. He was charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle and an emissions violation. He was released on a promise to appear in court on May 13.
