On March 25, police were on routine patrol when a green sports motorcycle traveling on Warner Hill Road being a registration tag was recorded as expired in 2009. Upon stopping the motorcycle, police spoke to the operator, Shawn Chiarantano, 27, of Barnum Terrace, who was wearing a helmet and had a valid driver’s license but without a motorcycle operator’s endorsement. Chiarantano told police that the bike belonged to his brother and that he was just “test driving” it. He was unable to produce proof of insurance. As the officer was speaking to Chiarantano, he noticed that the plate did not match the bike make, which was confirmed with a check of records. Chiarantano was charged with misuse of plates, no motorcycle endorsement, no insurance and no registration. He was released on a promise to appear in court on April 5.
