Stratford - Police Blotter

Enforcement actions taken by the Stratford police on March 8 - 9.

After police did a background check on the name the tipster had given, they confirmed the warrant and obtained a photograph of the wanted person. He was held in $5,000 bond with court scheduled for March 22.

On March 9, police contacted a Bridgeport man, Ramon DeJesus, 41, on his cell phone to advise him that there was an active warrant for his arrest in connection with a robbery in mid-February at the Irving gas station on Barnum Avenue. DeJesus came to headquarters, was patted down and read his rights. Police then asked DeJesus if he was the person in the video involved with the robbery and larceny at the gas station. DeJesus replied, “yes.” When asked by police how he entered the locked area where the cash register was located, he said, “I saw the opportunity when the guy was not near the register.” When asked how much money he took, DeJesus stated, “I took $360.” And when asked why he took the money, he replied, “I am an addict and use percocets and Roxys.” DeJesus was charged with third degree robbery and fourth degree larceny. He posted $2,000 bond pending an March 23 court appearance.

On March 9, while on routine patrol, a Stratford officer reported that he was looking for a vehicle in connection with a reported larceny from Stop & Shop. The vehicle was traced to a Broadbridge Avenue address and upon locating a vehicle that fit the description, the officer observed two people approaching the vehicle. As police passed by, the officer heard one yell out, “Oh $&*#, the police.” Police turned around and requested identification from both persons. A check showed one of the two, William Haschak of Broadbridge Avenue had an existing file for larceny. He was taken to headquarters and charged with larceny. He posted $100 bond pending a March 18 court date.
