Enforcement actions taken on March 3.

On March 3, officers observed a car traveling south on Success Avenue with a suspended plate due to no insurance. The vehicle also did not have a front license plate. The driver, Helen Hernandez, 41, told police that she was unaware that the registration had expired but explained that she had been stopped previously and given a warning for lapsed insurance. She was charged with operating with suspended insurance, operating an unregistered vehicle, and no front plate. She was released on a promise to appear in court on March 15.

On March 3, an officer was parked roadside on River Road conducting stationary radar and registration checks when he observed a vehicle traveling north on River Road owned by a person with an outstanding warrant. The vehicle was pulled over near the Merritt Parkway on Main Street and the driver, Jeffrey Vogel, 61, of Shelton was apprised of the warrant on a previous motor vehicle charge and was taken into custody without incident. A passenger in the car held a valid driver’s license and was allowed to take the car from the scene by police. Vogel was booked for failure to appear and was released on $1,000 bond pending a March 14 court appearance.

On March 3, police were on patrol in the area of Boston and Barnum avenues when a car was observed with only a rear license plate displayed with the operator not wearing a seat belt. The car was stopped on Kent Avenue and the driver, Jaime Reyes, 27, of Bridgeport, provided police with a suspended driver’s license and told police that the plate did not belong on the vehicle, although he was unclear how he came into possession of the plate. Reyes was charged with not wearing a seat belt, theft of registration plate, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating with a suspended driver’s license, misuse of registration, no insurance and no front plates. He was released on a promised to appear in court on March 15.
