Two men were arrested in Fairfield Monday after police said they discovered the men had cocaine in their possessions.

An officer on patrol stopped a gray Dodge caravan driving on Chambers Street after it failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of Chambers and Johnson Drive.

The driver -- identified as Kent Jones, 53, of Hamden -- reportedly told police he had a small amount of cocaine in his pocket. He produced a small bag with a white substance that was field tested and confirmed to be cocaine, according to the report.

His passenger -- identified as Gilbert Whitman, 33, of Stratford -- told police he had a pack of cigarettes on him, which he reportedly threw onto the van floor. Police called in a K-9 to search the vehicle and found there was a small bag of cocaine tucked into the cigarette box.
