Stratford Firefighters Save Home from Significant Damage

Contain fire to attached garage.

Stratford fire officials are investigating the cause of an overnight fire that tore through a garage at 43 East Laughlin Road.

A passer-by called the fire into the Stratford 911 center at 1:20 a.m. Friday and the first unit arrived on scene at 1:26 a.m., Jon Gottfried, deputy chief of operations, said in a release.

Though the garage was heavily involved when the first unit came on scene, Gottfried said firefighters through an aggressive attack were able to contain the fire to the structure.

No one was injured in the incident in which 23 firefighters responded, Gottfried said. The Milford and Bridgeport fire departments each sent an engine to Stratford fire headquarters for coverage of any subsequent calls, he said.
