Stratford Fire Puts Out Flames on McPadden Drive

While damage rendered one unit uninhabitable, no one was injured in the fire, according to the following press release from the Stratford Fire Department.

At 4:24 p.m. Thursday the Stratford 911 center received a report of a structure fire in a home located at 61 McPadden Drive.

At 4:30 p.m. the first arriving Stratford fire unit; Car 3 Assistant Chief Douglas Reitmeyer reported smoke issuing from the side of the home.

All occupants were safely outside of the two-family structure and there was no reported injury of firefighters or civilians.

The damage done by the fire will render the unit where the fire occurred uninhabitable.

The building official and fire marshal’s office were summoned to the scene to evaluate the damage, and Fire Investigator Lieutenant Robert Daniel is investigating the cause which is undetermined at the time of this press release.

The building is owned by the Stratford Housing Authority and the tenants name is currently unavailable.

The Bridgeport and Milford Fire Departments both sent one engine to Stratford Headquarters to cover the town for any subsequent incidents. A total of four engine companies, one ladder, the assistant chief/shift commander, one safety officer, and the fire marshals investigation unit responded for a total of (20) fire personnel.

The fire was declared under control at 4:53 p.m.
