Stratford Fire Department Receives Grant for Safety Equipment

The Stratford Fire Department was awarded a federal grant totaling $75,897 to purchase 96 emergency escape systems that are attached directly to firefighter gear and provide specialized ropes and an automatic descending device, according to the Connecticut Post.

The devices will help firefighters escape from windows or other openings if all other means of exiting the fire have been compromised.
