UPDATE: Stratford Police ID Man in Fatal Car Crash

A 47-year-old North Haven man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Stratford police have identified the victim in Tuesday night's fatal car accident on Mount Carmel Boulevard in which an SUV crashed through a residential fence.

Marcello Mastroianna, 47, of North Haven, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

According to police, Mastroianna drove his Jeep Grand Cherokee off the left side of Mount Carmel Boulevard and struck a chain-link fence.

He then crossed the roadway and crashed through a wooden stockade fence before coming to a final stop in the backyard of a Drome Avenue home, police said.

Police said they responded to the crash at about 8:43 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing.

Mount Carmel Boulevard is closed to traffic this evening as Stratford Police investigate the cause of a fatal accident.

According to police, a vehicle traveling on Mount Carmel Boulevard crashed into a residential fence at approximately 9 p.m. Stratford police Sgt. Ariel Leon confirmed there was one fatality in the accident. He said the victim was a middle-aged white male.

The Major Crime Squad is still on scene investigating.
