Stratford, Bridgeport and State Police Nab 29 in Pre-dawn Anti-Gang Raids

Raids net 29 arrests, seize drugs and illegal guns in Stratford and Bridgeport.

Early morning raids by the Stratford, Bridgeport and State Police resulted in the arrests of 29 gang suspects, including five in Stratford.

Stratford Police Capt. Joseph McNeil said the suspects are believed to be affiliates of the notorious Bloods street gang. "They’re everywhere," he said.

McNeil said the pre-dawn raids began at 4:30 a.m. Drugs and guns were seized at many of the locations.

In Stratford, locations targeted by police included residences on McKinley Avenue, Dewey Street, Franklin Avenue and Gregory Circle.

The Stratford Police Special Response Team, the town’s SWAT team, participated in the coordinated raids in Stratford with State Police anti-gang units, while the Bridgeport Police Department’s Emergency Services Unit and State Police raided targets in Bridgeport.

McNeil said the operations were the result of a long-term investigation started by State Police that uncovered the level of gang activity locally.
