Stolen Handgun Seized During MV Stop

Motor vehicle stop on Woodend Road results in the arrests of two Bridgeport men.

A loaded handgun stolen out of Norwalk was seized during a motor vehicle stop Saturday on Woodend Road in Stratford, police said.

The operator of the vehicle, Christopher Boyd, 23, and the passenger, Akeen Olajuan Trotter, 24, face several firearm charges. Both of the men are from Bridgeport, police said.

Police said the handgun was discovered under the front passenger seat of the vehicle. Both men were taken into custody without incident.

The motor vehicle stop was conducted near Woodend Road's intersection with Columbus Avenue, police said.

Boyd was charged with operating a vehicle without insurance; improper signal; failure to have taillamps; carrying a firearm without a permit; altering an identification number of a firearm; weapons in a motor vehicle; and theft of a firearm.

Trotter was charged with carrying a firearm without a permit; altering an identification number of a firearm; weapons in a motor vehicle; and theft of a firearm.

Both men were held in lieu of $150,000 bond and are due in court April 17.
