SFD Responds to Over 35 Flood-Related Incidents

Stratford Deputy Fire Chief Jon Gottfried released following statement.

The Town of Stratford like many other area municipalities experienced a significant amount of flooding related incidents due to the inclement weather moving through the area today.

From the onset of the heavy rains, the Stratford Fire Department responded to over 35 separate incidents many which required firefighters to don special water rescue suits to traverse the high water to remove victims from their stranded vehicles.

At one incident over ten vehicles were stuck in high water requiring firefighters to remove victims from their vehicles.

No significant injuries were sustained by the many victims removed from their vehicles. Every railroad underpass in the town was blocked by water however by late afternoon the water in the affected areas have substantially subsided allow the opening of closed roadways.
