Stratford Firefighters Complete Extrication Training

Stratford Deputy Fire Chief Jon Gottfried released following statement.

The Stratford Fire Department, as part of its on-going in-service training program has completed department-wide extrication training under the direction of Captain Michael Camperlengo, training officer for the department.

The training drills were performed on Old South Road which was blocked off to vehicle traffic on multiple days. The training has allowed fire personnel to hone their extrication skills in a controlled environment and has given the fire department members an opportunity to exercise skills learned in the classroom on newer vehicles which present challenges to rescuers due to stronger construction of the vehicles and state of the art lightweight materials which are used to construct today's automobiles.

This very important training could not have been accomplished without the co-operation of Kramer's Auto Parts of Old South Avenue who has been providing salvage vehicles and the equipment to set up real-life accident scenes for each of the four fire department shifts.
